Choreography Competition March 2015 

The Choreography competition was held on 21st March this year and because of it's popularity there were 2 cups awarded.

Special Commendation: Grace Hill

The standard was exceptionally high this year and the students creativity always astounds us! We can't wait for next year!

Ballet Exams - July 2014

Margret Brockway Competition - June 2014

Congratulations to our students; Lucy Hembury Gunn, Sophia Pawlaczek, Ben Goodchild, Issy Good, Marvin Edwards, Mia Vickers and Sophie Mitropoulos who all got through to the finals of the prestigious Margaret Brockway competition. Special congratulations to Issy Good for coming runner up in the senior level.

 

Choreography Competition - March 2014 

Congratulations to Thalia Ryan who deservedly won the choreographic competition with her dance 'Human'. As always we were blown away by you all. Next year we have decided to hold a junior and senior level so start choreographing now. 

   

 

London Junior Ballet 

Congratulations to Grace Hill, Lily Hill and Sophie Vaile who successfully auditioned at London Senior Ballet and are joining Celia Foster and Marvin Edwards, who also won the scholarship for the academic year 2014-2015.

New RAD Grades 4 and 5 

WDA have been asked to pilot the new RAD grades 4 & 5 prior to their launch in January 2014, this is a huge privilege and we are looking forward to dancing the exciting new work.

Congratulations to Sophie Draper and Alice Foster who both gained a place at London Studio Centre's new Saturday Associate Programme. It has been a pleasure to watch you grow in confidence.

December 2013 - Modern Exams

Lion King Workshop - December 2012

 We were fortunate to have Makiko Fakudo who performed as Nairobi in Lion King to teach two workshops for the students at WDA. You were all amazing and it was a pleasure to see what you achieved in such a short time.

The Olympics- London 2012
Past pupil Jolyon Price appeared in the opening ceremony. Past pupils Abbie Murray, Chiara Gibbs and Araminta Wraith appeared in the closing ceremony.

Examinations Success
In both 2011 and 2012 our students continued to excel in their examinations with 100% pass rate and 98% distinctions.

New R.A.D. Syllabus  - update
Following the success of the pilot syllabus we are delighted that Claudia Holland, Anna Hall and Mia Vickers have been asked to dance in London to launch the new grades I - III. We are delighted that Wheathampstead Dance Academy have also been asked to pilot the new grades IV and V.

 Vocational Training - 2012
Tess Corscaden has succesfully gained a place at Ballet West and Jolyon Price at Mount View. We wish them both every success for the future.

Reece Hudson has gained a place at Central School of Ballet, Tilly Gilmour has gained a place at Northern Ballet School. Our congratulations go to them both.

Choreography Competition - November 2011
On Sunday 20th November we held our annual choreography competition and it was very exciting to watch creative and musical pupils from all ages. Vikki
and I were so inspired and would like to push this competition further. Congratulations to all the pupils who took part - you all brought something special to the occasion.

Northern Ballet's Nutcracker - October 2011

A number of Wheathampstead Dance Academy students were invited to audition for parts in the Northern Ballet's production of Nutcracker to be performed at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre during the October half term. Twenty four students were subsequently selected to be mice and party children and performed with the company thorughout the week. An outstanding achievement and wonderful experience for all involved.

Faire un Voyage - June 2011

Sunday 26th June saw students of Wheathampstead Dance Academy, from Primary to Advanced levels, at the Sandpit Theatre, St Albans in a gala performance Faire un Voyage. The production showcased the many talents within the school with classical demonstrations and modern dances as well as Pas de Quatre and a stunning grande finale.There was a matinee and evening performance, both of which were sold out. Many congratulations to all involved in this memorable event.

New R.A.D. Syllabus - Summer 2011

With effect from January 2012 the new syllabus in Grades I to III will replace the current one of 20 years. Wheathampstead Dance Academy was selected to pilot the new Grades which was a real honour. All our students achieved Distinction with the following 6 being selected to perform on the new DVD:

Examinations Success

In both 2009 and 2010 WDA students have continued to achieve outstanding success rates with 100% of students passing their RAD Ballet exams and nearly 95% gaining a pass with Distinction.

Students taking their ISTD Modern exams in 2009 not only gained a 100% pass rate but all passed with a Grade A. In 2010 students again achieved a 100% pass rate with 99% at Grade A or B.


Vocational Training - 2010

Congratulations to Tori Forsyth Hecken who has successfully gained a place at the Royal Ballet, White Lodge from September and to Jessica Davy who has successfully gained a place at Tring Park.

April 2008

Ten WDA students recently attended the RAD London Region Scholarship day.  All ten pupils entered reached the finals of their competitions and three won prizes.
